Nestled in the picturesque Fitzgerald Park in Grand Ledge, the 348-seat Ledges Playhouse was originally constructed in 1895 and has been used as a theater performance space more or less continuously since 1956. Originally used by the long-forgotten Slout Players led by Vermontville native Bill Slout, in 1966 it became the original venue for the professional Boarshead Theatre founded by John Peakes and Richard Thomsen. Boarshead moved to a space in downtown Lansing about a decade later, and after a few vacant seasons, Bob Robinson and Len Kluge founded Spotlight Theatre, performing summer seasons in the Playhouse for more than twenty years. After Spotlight, the Playhouse was used for a few seasons by the aptly named Ledges Playhouse Theatre Company. Since 2011, it has been the home for Joe Dickson'sOver The Ledge Theatre Company.
